The Client

Voltaren, a leading pain relief medication for arthritis sufferers, needed an activation that could bring its “Freedom to Move” brand message to life in front of soccer fans. The campaign was set to travel across World Cup Soccer events throughout the USA as part of a mobile brand activation tour, meaning the experience had to be portable, durable, and instantly engaging for a high-traffic crowd.

The Challenge

Voltaren wanted more than brand awareness — they wanted fans to feel the “Freedom to Move” promise. That meant designing an experience that connected physical movement, competition, and the emotional payoff of moving pain-free, all within a format built for a touring pharma brand’s activation.

The Solution

Elation’s creative team designed a custom motion capture kick slice game that put fans directly into the action. Using motion-sensing footpads, players guided their own “Ronaldo” soccer avatar through a series of drills toward the goal — a playful nod to the skill and freedom of movement the sport demands.

A built-in pain meter reinforced the Voltaren story arc within the gameplay itself, while a live leaderboard tracked high scores throughout the day. That leaderboard turned the activation into a running competition at each tour stop, giving fans a reason to come back, challenge friends, and spend more time at the booth.

Why It Worked

The combination of full-body motion gameplay, a branded narrative device (the pain meter), and social leaderboard competition made this more than a photo-op — it was a hands-on demonstration of the brand promise. It’s a strong example of how sports experiential marketing and thoughtful pharma experiential marketing can work together to turn a wellness message into a physical, memorable moment for fans.
